Grande Ronde Float, Oregon

Floating the Grande Ronde River in the roadless section from Minam to Troy while fishing for steelhead is a unique angling treat. Typical trips are 5 days and 4 nights on the river in October and early November. The summer run steelhead can be aggressive to the surface fly. When the air temperatures drop, swinging wet flies becomes effective, for an opportunity to have one of these aggressive fish, crush your fly. These trips are outfitted and run by Little Creek Outfitters, which is owned by Marty and Mia Shepard. With many years of experience on the Ronde and a year around steelhead guide, you will be in great hands with Marty and his experienced crew. Trips are limited to 6 anglers with 3 guides and includes a camp boat.

The Grande Ronde is a tributary of the Snake River. The watershed's diverse flora and fauna and abundance of wildlife only adds to the natural beauty of this river. This float affords a rare opportunity to experience a nearly pristine river corridor. Its rapids are lively, but not intimidating as its course runs alongside woodlands and deep canyons. Trips are limited to this time of year due to timing of the run and the limiting factor of lat fall weather.
