Fishing and Species
Bonefishing is what most anglers prefer to do, particularly if it?s their first time on the flats or at Espiritu Santos. There is so much water to fish with a great diversity of habitat. If the wind comes up, you can typically get in the lee for casting. These waters are noted for some of the best permit fishing anywhere. There are small tarpon who live in the bay year around due to the abundance of food. Seasonally, big tarpon enter the bay. Snook live in the bay and are in "the snooky" type of mangrove waters. Like permit, they require a deliberate pursuit. The guides all use Dolphin Super Skiffs. It is the perfect craft for these waters.
Mexico

Ten miles south of Casa Blanca on Isla Punta Pajaros you will find Playa Blanca, offering world class facilities to the traveling angler. Here you have access to one of fly fishing's most spectacular frontiers, Espiritu Santo Bay. Playa Blanca guides can lay claim to the fact that they were the first to regularly fly fish, explore and learn this bay. It would be impossible to find a better destination from which to fish this remote area.

Espiritu Santo bay is loaded with bonefish, permit and tarpon. Some other species anglers might try their skill with are snook, jacks, snapper, triggerfish and BIG barracuda. Laguna Santa Rosa is famous for its year round juvenile tarpon population as well as some excellent bonefishing and occasionally some great snook fishing.

What makes this different from other fly fishing lodges is all the other activities: the world's best snorkeling over a seemingly endless coral reef, back country kayaking through jungle lagoons, trekking the island’s seaside road, exploring the nearby Mayan ruins, bicycling down remote stretches of beach or simply relaxing in a hammock beneath the palms. Don’t worry, hardcore anglers, no one will make you do any of those things.
Playa Blanca accommodations are seaside, thatched-roofed, duplex cabanas. The rooms are large and well appointed with all the modern amenities and large bathrooms, and each one has its own patio overlooking the tropical grounds and the nearby Carribean. They have seven rooms and can accommodate fourteen guests. Playa Blanca is perfect for world-class anglers, adventurers, honeymooners, active families and groups.

The food at Playa Blanca rivals any of the best restaurants on the Yucatan coast. All meals are served at the beachfront restaurant and bar. Feel free to enjoy a cocktail under the rooftop palapa overlooking the Caribbean and Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. No worries, the chef will call you when dinner is ready.
